About the Role Canonical is hiring a Linux devices software engineer for the SnapD team. The role focuses on mission-critical Golang code related to software delivery, containers, security sandboxing, telemetry, and device management on the Snap packaging platform. The work supports snaps across multiple Linux flavors to simplify publishing and consumption for IoT devices, desktops and servers.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to SnapD and related Golang code, ensuring safety, performance and reliability in software delivery
- Work on containers, security sandboxing, telemetry and device management for connected devices
- Collaborate on cross-distro Linux support to enable publishers to reach the whole Linux ecosystem
- Help improve the publishing and consumption experience for Snap users and developers
- Embrace a strong focus on quality and performance at the heart of the operating system
- Comfortable contributing in a globally distributed team; teams meet 2-4 times per year in person in interesting locations around the world
What We're Looking For
- Experience with Golang and systems software
- Familiarity with Linux, containers, and security sandboxing
- Interest in software publishing and consumption experience
- Ability to work on mission-critical, high-availability code
- Strong collaboration in a distributed team; comfortable with occasional in-person meetings across locations
