About the Role Entergy Mississippi, LLC is seeking a Lineman to construct, build, and maintain overhead and underground electric facilities up to 34.5 kV. The role includes installation, removal and maintenance of primary lines, transformers, regulators, capacitors and reclosers, as well as operating a variety of trucks and bucket/digger derrick equipment. This position requires climbing poles, reading prints, responding to emergencies, and providing safe, reliable service from the field in Pearl, MS onsite.
What You'll Do
- Construct, build and maintain OH/UG electric facilities up to 34.5 kV, including installation, removal and maintenance of primary lines and secondary services.
- Install OH/UG transformers and wire transformer banks.
- Install and wire regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
- Drive different sizes/types of trucks; operate equipment such as aerial bucket and digger derrick trucks.
- Read and interpret job prints and sketches; recognize materials and their function.
- Set and climb poles of various heights in open areas, rear alleys and energized lines.
- Be available for on-call duty and emergency response.
What We're Looking For
- 5 years of lineman experience.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to perform physical tasks in all weather conditions; climb and work off poles; be able to lift up to 80 pounds and work up to 16 hours per day.
- Ability to work irregular hours and out-of-town assignments; strong communication skills; leadership ability to direct other linemen.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with Entergy safety policies; ability to learn through classroom instruction, on-the-job training and repetitive motions.
- Ability to recognize hazards, perform emergency rescue operations, and deliver high level customer service.
- Ability to read, understand directions, and work with limited supervision; ability to work in teams and manage stress.
- Must be able to operate trucks/heavy equipment safely around energized lines and maintain company assets.
- Must be able to traverse uneven terrain, work in extreme weather, and perform emergency rescue operations.
