Job title: Lineman

About the Role The Lineman is responsible for constructing, building, and maintaining overhead and underground electric facilities up to 34.5 kV, including installation, removal, and maintenance of primary and secondary line systems. The role also involves transformer wiring, installation of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers, and operating specialized equipment such as Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks. This position requires on-call availability for emergency response and travel for out-of-town assignments as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Construct, build and maintain OH/UG electric facilities up to 34.5 kV, including installation, removal and maintenance of primary line facilities and secondary services.
  • Install OH/UG transformers and wire transformer banks; wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
  • Drive different sizes and types of trucks; operate Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks.
  • Read and interpret job prints and sketches; recognize materials and their function.
  • Set and climb poles in open areas, rear alleys, and energized lines.
  • Be available for on-call duty and emergency response.
  • Maintain and care for company equipment; follow Entergy safety policies and procedures.
  • Travel to out-of-town assignments; work irregular hours as required.
  • Communicate effectively; plan and lay out work safely and efficiently; may assume a lead role and direct other linemen.
  • Perform basic computer tasks (time entry, task completion notes, emails, training).

What We're Looking For

  • 5 years of lineman experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Ability to use physical strength to perform tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and out-of-town assignments.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow directives with limited supervision.
  • Ability to plan and lay out work safely and efficiently; lead role capability.
  • Must be able to work safely and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to learn through classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to climb and work off poles of various heights; recognize hazards and mitigate them.
  • Maintain and care for equipment and safeguard assets; provide high level of customer service to public.
  • Acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain, work in extreme weather, work in confined spaces, and perform emergency rescue operations.
  • Must be able to work up to 16 continuous hours per day and wear required PPE.
  • Comfortable performing basic computer tasks and communicating with team.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and ability to work overtime when necessary.
  • Valid Class A CDL and ability to operate trucks and heavy equipment around energized lines.
