Job title: Light Equipment Operator-Sanitation
About the Role Based in The Villages, FL, you’ll join a two-person sanitation team to operate a commercial waste truck and collect waste from residential routes, while upholding safety and efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Operate garbage trucks on pre-assigned routes as part of a two-person driver/pitcher team.
- Ride the back of the truck to collect waste from residential homes; load waste into the truck; assist with bulk item tagging and scheduling.
- Adhere to established routes and schedules using route maps.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; ensure truck is fueled, serviced, and clean.
- Follow safety protocols for waste handling and vehicle operation; comply with traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct light maintenance and refueling; interact professionally with residents.
- May be called out for emergency situations.
What We're Looking For
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) and current DOT medical card.
- 2 years of commercial driving experience within the past 5 years.
- Waste industry experience a plus but not required.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs; pass background and drug screening; wear steel-toed boots.
- Understanding of OSHA safety standards and PPE; follow safety regulations on route.
- Ability to carry, reach, bend, push, pull, and climb; must be a team player and comfortable in adverse weather.
Nice to Have
- Waste industry experience is a plus but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $36,100.00 to $51,700.00; paid hourly based on hours worked.
