Job title: Lifting Machine Inspector - Trainee
About the Role The Lifting Machine Inspector - Trainee will be trained and registered as a Lifting Machinery Inspector under the Engineering Profession Act 2000. The role involves load testing and certifying material handling equipment (forklifts) on company and customer premises, and maintaining vehicle records, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
What You'll Do
- Perform load tests and certification of forklifts on company and customer premises.
- Perform accurate diagnosis and troubleshooting during equipment breakdowns; communicate needed repairs to customers and/or supervisor.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance and operational data/history by updating and timely communicating information that must go on record.
- Provide complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner.
- Ensure OHSACT requirements are met on company premises; maintain a safe work environment by verifying vehicle safety device operations and following standards.
- Ensure clear communication with workshop staff (supervisor and controller).
- Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- Matric, Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic, plus experience with forklifts or similar material handling equipment; or Qualified Forklift Technician; or Qualified Auto Electrician with mechanical experience and abilities.
- Minimum of 3–6 years mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience pertaining to forklifts.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems is essential.
