Job title: Lifting Machine Inspector M/F

About the Role The Lifting Machinery Inspector ensures load testing and certification of material handling equipment (forklifts) on company and customer premises, and maintains vehicle records. This role operates under the Engineering Profession Act 2000 to ensure safe, compliant equipment and processes.

What You'll Do

  • Perform load testing and certification of forklifts and related material handling equipment on company and customer premises in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment in case of breakdown; communicate repairs needed to customers and/or supervisor.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance and operational data/history by updating records and ensuring information is captured.
  • Ensure OHSACT & ASEC safety requirements are met on company and customer premises; maintain a safe work environment and verify vehicle safety device operations.
  • Communicate effectively with workshop staff, supervisor, controllers and customers; strive for complete customer satisfaction.
  • Travel to remote areas as required.
  • Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, operation manuals and manufacturer specifications; utilise diagnostic equipment and specialized tools.
  • Work with little supervision; manage own time, stay organized, and perform tasks under pressure; maintain high energy and integrity.
  • Pursue ongoing learning to stay current with new technology and forklift models.

What We're Looking For

  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification with 4 years LMI experience, or registered as Lifting Machinery Inspector under the Engineering Profession Act 2000.
  • Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic with forklift or similar equipment experience; or Qualified Forklift Mechanic; or Qualified Auto Electrician with mechanical experience; or Qualified forklift technician with minimum 5 years experience; or Qualified Forklift Mechanic.
  • General working knowledge of auto electrical systems (ignition, starting, charging, illumination).
  • Excellent English communication (reading/writing) skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, operations manuals and manufacturer specifications; ability to identify and utilise diagnostic equipment and specialised tools.
  • Strong problem solving, prioritization and multi-tasking skills; high energy, reliability, and dedication to service excellence.
  • Ability to work with little supervision; self-motivated; able to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas and to work at various locations.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area; strong attention to detail and accuracy; good teamwork.
