About the Role The Lifeguard at YMCA of Silicon Valley is responsible for ensuring the safety of pool patrons by monitoring activities, enforcing pool rules, and responding quickly to emergencies. This role requires vigilance, strong swimming skills, and the ability to provide first aid or CPR as needed. What You'll Do
- Actively scan the pool, monitor hazards, and safeguard swimmers.
- Conduct swim tests with young swimmers.
- Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness; ensure practices align with evidence-based methods.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Follow YMCA policies on medical, disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies; complete required abuse-prevention training.
- Supervise high-risk activities responsibly and report unsafe behavior; follow mandated reporting laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned and by supervisor.
