About the Role
The Life Underwriter analyzes and underwrites new and existing life business within delegated authority levels to achieve business goals and maximize customer experience. This role provides technical underwriting support and guidance to customers and distributors, and ensures accurate evidence collection and clear rating decisions. What You'll Do

Complete assignments of moderate to high complexity within delegated authority.

Provide technical underwriting support and guidance to customers and distributors, consistently delivering excellent customer service.

Maintain internal and external distributor relationships by requesting the correct evidence and clearly explaining rating decisions.

Complete a range of queries and referrals within agreed authority limits, measuring exposure and analyzing risk to maintain underwriting standards.

Proactively contribute to the development and improvement of technical underwriting standards, controls, practices and procedures to better meet business goals.

Contribute ideas for the development of new or enhanced propositions/procedures/philosophy to ensure appropriate premiums for the corresponding risk.

Identify training opportunities for self and others and assist with training as directed. What We're Looking For

Experience underwriting life insurance with the ability to analyze and assess risk within delegated authority.

Strong knowledge of underwriting standards, controls, and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers and distributors, explain rating decisions, and request evidentiary documentation.

Proactive, collaborative, and able to contribute to development and process improvement.

Willingness to participate in training and development.

Familiarity with managing distributor relationships.
