Job title: Licensed Mental Health Counselor
About the Role A licensed mental health professional in a psychology-related field provides therapy and psychoeducational services to a culturally diverse college student body through CAPS. This is a full-time, in-person role based in the Stockton, CA campus, focused on reducing barriers to student success and promoting equity and inclusion.
What You'll Do
- Provide group, individual, couples therapy, and psychoeducational workshops to a diverse student population.
- Consult with faculty, staff, and students regarding student concerns; participate in university-wide committees.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic records; ensure compliance with APA ethical standards and university policies and applicable laws.
- Participate in staff and multidisciplinary team meetings; represent CAPS at campus events and outreach.
- Maintain licensure status and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctoral level training in a therapy-focused field (e.g., LPCC, LCSW, LMFT, or psychologist) and licensed to practice therapy.
- Current valid license to practice in California or another US state with eligibility to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (up to 180 days).
- Two years of experience working with adolescents or adults.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Titanium Schedule (EHR).
- Ability to work with diverse client populations; culturally competent approaches across modalities (group, individual, couples, crisis interventions, consultations, workshops).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to teach informal workshops.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with other university departments.
- Experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting; ability to integrate culturally responsive practices.
Nice to Have
- Titanium Schedule (EHR) experience (listed as preferred).
- More extensive experience with diverse populations and cultural competency across therapies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000 per year.
- In-person role with potential outreach; standard business hours; occasional travel; valid driver's license required.
