Job title: Library Technician IV
About the Role The Acquisitions and Cataloging department at Syracuse University Libraries is seeking a Library Technician to support the purchasing of library materials and related acquisitions processes. This on-campus role collaborates with library staff and external vendors to ensure timely access to books, media, journals and databases.
What You'll Do
- Process requests/transactions in all areas, monitor open orders, and communicate status to staff, faculty, and vendors.
- Research materials, identify vendors, place orders, and ensure proper payment paperwork.
- Maintain records of purchases in the library system and spreadsheets; monitor and reconcile payments.
- Troubleshoot information technology and cataloging issues; assist with acquisition projects and participate in library-wide teams.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree and at least 2 years of work in a public service setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Desired qualifications: library acquisitions experience; public service or customer service experience; academic library experience with acquisitions focus.
- Skills: knowledge of Alma ILS, library technology, MS Office, data manipulation, strong customer service, attention to detail, good communication, ability to work independently.
Nice to Have
- Library experience preferred but not required; prior experience in public service or customer service; experience in an academic library with acquisitions focus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: $24.361
