About the Role Stratolaunch is seeking a Level II or Sr-level Mechanical or Structural Engineer to lead the design, build, and integration of experimental customer payloads on the Talon-A hypersonic vehicles. This role involves working with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, program management, and customers. While primarily focused on mechanical integration, the ideal candidate will also have experience with system integration and avionics packaging.

What You'll Do

• Define interface and integration requirements across teams and subsystems
• Design and analyze mechanical and avionics packaging of customer payloads (CAD models, assemblies)
• Perform structural and thermal analysis of components/assemblies
• Create, organize, and manage 3D CAD sub-models and master models for Talon-A payloads
• Specify and order hardware to fabricate designs
• Deconflict hardware interface issues and help resolve quickly
• Support fabricators and mechanics in building and integrating components onto the vehicle
• Report to and support Talon-A Payload Integration Lead
• Recommend workflow and process improvements
• Support technical customer reviews and ensure contract deliverables are met on time
• Provide technical support for payload proposals and contract negotiations
• Travel as needed; demonstrate integrity and accountability

What We're Looking For

• Proficient with 3D CAD modeling, assembly management, and PDM
• Strong communication to varied audiences
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance
• Required: SolidWorks experience
• Experience with structural analysis methods (hand calculations, FEMAP, ANSYS, etc.)
• Proficient with MS Office
• Familiarity with configuration management systems such as Jira
• Familiarity with requirement management systems such as Jama, Cameo, DOORS

Nice to Have

• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Experience with NX and Teamcenter
• Experience with Jira, Jama, Cameo, DOORS (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: USD 101,000 - 158,000 per year (based on Level II or Sr level)
• Benefits: 9/80 schedule, healthcare (medical, dental, vision), paid maternity and parental leave, 50% company match per contributed dollar into 401(k) up to $11,500, tuition reimbursement
