  • Leveling Up to Leadership during the Winter 2027 term. This is a part-time (30% effort), in-person position.
  • The Mission of the CFE is to unlock the full entrepreneurial potential at the University of Michigan by helping people to understand, experience, practice, and refine the skills needed to successfully translate their knowledge, ideas, leadership, creativity, and enthusiasm into lasting value in the world. We achieve this potential by providing broad and inclusive access to a wide variety of educational opportunities, immersive learning experiences, timely and powerful mentorship, and meaningful connections to the global industry leaders that are building the future. • Responsibilities*
  • The Center for Entrepreneurship's courses exemplify experiential learning, demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, and are open to all U-M students.
  • We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered Instructor to lead our graduate-level professional development and leadership course during the Winter 2027 term. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Emotional Intelligence (EQ) as a practical foundation to help students with personal growth, team dynamics, and modern leadership. This course guides students through self-awareness and personal management, interpersonal relationships and team effectiveness, and the integration of entrepreneurial strategy, risk management, and team formation across corporate, venture, and organizational environments. Course faculty will facilitate experiential learning, mentor students as they build their personal Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and foster an inclusive environment grounded in psychological safety and self-care.
  • Course faculty will:
  • Refine and deliver an established curriculum spanning foundational EQ concepts, self-awareness models (including Quadrant Four analyses), motivation, psychological difference, resilience, executive communication, and synthesizing multi-instrument assessment data.
  • Guide graduate students through the design and execution of their Personal Leadership Plans, offering feedback on multi-year arcs, self-assessments (such as StrengthsFinder), career alignment, and interview strategy.
  • Facilitate collaborative group projects and team-building frameworks, equipping students with practical tools like the Plan of Action and Milestones to build high-performing, inclusive team dynamics.
  • Develop student understanding and application of evolving leadership theories in order to evaluate EQ models in practice, power dynamics, ethics, and modern workplace challenges (such as hybrid work and AI adoption), and evaluate learning through structured rubrics and peer feedback systems.
  • Oversee applied course-community project presentations and facilitate structured reflection sessions to help students articulate their personal leadership legacy and ongoing professional development.
  • The course is scheduled for 14 weeks during the Winter 2027 term. Course faculty will be responsible for preparing interactive course materials, weekly lecturing, holding office hours each week, preparing and grading assignments, managing and grading class projects, and attending monthly CFE's Faculty Community Meetings.
  • Required Qualifications*
  • Master's or terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology, Organizational Leadership/Behavior, Executive Coaching, Higher Education, Business Administration (MBA), or a closely related field.
  • Practical Leadership and Organizational

Experience

  • 5+ years of leadership or executive experience, with demonstrated success managing teams, projects, and programs while adapting to changing workplace environments across small- and large-scale organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience embedding applied leadership topics such as self-awareness assessment tools (e.g., CliftonStrengths/StrengthsFinder), foundational psychological principles of individual differences, Emotional Intelligence (EQ) frameworks, goal-setting methodologies, and group project management tools (such as Plan of Action & Milestones / POA&M).

  • Demonstrated experience embedding positive psychology, burnout prevention, executive presence, AI, and hybrid work trends into higher education instruction and applied leadership coaching.

  • Strong communication skills, including oral and visual presentations, with a proven ability to establish credibility and rapport with graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach and use rubric-based assessments for undergraduate and graduate students in an interactive classroom setting, build a psychologically safe learning environment, and lead discussions on complex workplace and interpersonal dynamics.

  • Desired Qualifications*

  • Professional Certifications: Active certification in recognized EQ assessment frameworks (e.g., EQ-i 2.0, Six Seconds), Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, or International Coaching Federation (ICF) credentials.
