  • Handle a varied caseload covering governance, procurement, property, corporate law, data protection, freedom of information, and other local government matters.

  • Provide legal advice and support to senior officers, elected members, committees and boards.

  • Support service improvement initiatives, case management systems and performance monitoring arrangements.

  • Lead on Data Protection, Freedom of Information and the Council's responsibilities under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and collaborative legal professional who:

  • Has significant post-qualification experience, ideally within local government or the public sector.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and people management skills.

  • Has experience advising senior officers, elected members and committees on complex legal and governance matters.

  • Possesses excellent communication, advocacy and negotiation skills.

  • Can balance strategic thinking with a practical, solutions-focused approach to legal service delivery.

Join us and help shape the delivery of high-quality legal services that make a real difference to our communities.
