Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) is a semi autonomous government agency of the Ministry of Education, Kenya. It was established through a Legal Notice No. 17 of 14th February 1986. The Institute is currently run by a council appointed by the Minister for Education. The Head of the Institute is the Director who is also the Secretary to the Council.
Legal Officer I

Responsibilities

Prepare legal opinions.

Provide legal risk reviews and providing legal advice; and

Review ongoing cases and advising management accordingly.

Provide and interpret legal information;

Conduct training and disseminating appropriate legal information to staff;

Review and draft contracts, agreements internal policies and ensuring that they are in compliance with statutory or legal requirements;

Monitor and report non-compliance issues;
-
Handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries;

Participate in policy development and advising on legal policy issues

Ensure compliance with principles and values of good governance;

Implement strategic plans and objectives in respect to the legal function;

Qualifications / Work Experience
-
Professional Cumulative service period of three (3) year relevant work experience as a Legal Officer II or in a comparable position

Academic Bachelors of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized Institution

Academic Post graduate Diploma in Law (Advocates Training Programme) from the Kenya School of Law
-
Professional Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK);
-
Professional Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
