Job title: Legal Counsel - Indirect Purchasing
About the Role As a key member of the Indirect Purchasing legal team, you will advise the procurement function and closely support the team. Under the supervision of the Directeur Juridique des Achats Indirects, you will draft and negotiate procurement agreements for the entire Alstom group, provide risk-based legal advice on issues such as data confidentiality, GDPR, IP and export controls, and help ensure compliant, scalable contracting across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Draft and negotiate procurement agreements for the entire Alstom group, including master service agreements (MSAs), service contracts, local service contracts, and settlement agreements.
- Advise stakeholders on risks and legal issues, including data confidentiality, GDPR, intellectual property, export controls, and other compliance topics.
- Review and provide guidance on newly introduced legislation and its potential impact on indirect procurement.
- Review, negotiate and manage contracts; support the agile development, review and negotiation processes; advise business partners on a wide range of procurement transactions; update standard documentation to protect the company's interests.
- Provide legal support to procurement managers on claims management, dispute resolution and other issues arising during contract execution.
- Ensure regular reporting on quality, identify risks and opportunities, and communicate them to senior management.
- Interface with external law firms; manage relationships with external counsel.
- Deliver trainings and awareness sessions on legal procurement topics and other legal matters.
What We're Looking For
- A qualified lawyer (Master) with at least 5 years of relevant experience as a corporate lawyer and/or in private practice in an international environment.
- Member of the Barreau du Québec.
- Proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating international commercial contracts and in compliance (e.g., anti-corruption, fraud, antitrust, export controls, confidentiality, enterprise risk management).
- Strong business acumen, robust but flexible personality, good oral and written communication skills, and ability to work in a multicultural and multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Proven experience advising non-lawyers on complex commercial agreements in terms they can understand; experience with international transactions.
- French-English bilingual.
- Understanding of purchasing considerations in a multicultural environment with key market players.
- Experience and ease working in an international matrix organization.
