Job title: Legal Counsel, Indirect Procurement

About the Role Joining the Legal Procurement team, you will advise the Procurement organization and draft and negotiate procurement-related agreements for the Alstom Group, with a focus on indirect procurement. You will manage legal risks, ensure compliance across legislation (GDPR, export control, IP), and provide support on contract development and dispute resolution in an international context.

What You'll Do

  • Draft and negotiate procurement-related agreements (Master Services Agreement, Framework Agreement, Services Agreement, Settlement Agreements) for the Alstom Group and support local teams in various countries.
  • Advise stakeholders on legal risks including data privacy, GDPR, Intellectual property, Export Control, etc.
  • Review and interpret newly introduced legislation and assess potential impact on Legal Procurement; monitor contract development and negotiate; update standard documentation to protect company’s interests.
  • Provide legal support to Procurement managers on claim management, dispute settlement and other issues at contract execution in an international context; monitor and improve agile process for contract development.
  • Ensure regular reporting of quality, identify risks and opportunities, and escalate to management.
  • Interface with external law firms; facilitate trainings and awareness sessions on Legal Procurement topics and other legal topics.

What We're Looking For

  • A French qualified lawyer (Master degree) with at least 5 years of relevant experience gained as in-house legal counsel and/or in private practice in an international setting.
  • Proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating (international) commercial contracts and compliance (anti-bribery, anti-corruption, fraud, antitrust, export control, privacy, Enterprise Risk Management).
  • Strong business acumen, robust yet flexible personality, good communication skills (oral and written), and ability to operate in a multi-cultural and multi-jurisdictional environment.
  • Demonstrated experience advising non-legal people on complex business arrangements with international commercial transactional experience.
  • Knowledge/experience of IS&T Contractual Procurement (software, licenses, outsourcing, etc).
  • Knowledge/experience as a digital lawyer (owned software protection, sales model with associated contractual frame, use of open source software) is a plus.
  • You are bilingual French-English; knowledge of one or more other languages is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of procurement considerations in a multi-cultural environment and experience working in a worldwide matrix-based organization.

  • Additional language skills beyond French and English.
  • Knowledge/experience related to open source software governance and use.
  • Exposure to the mobility/transport sector procurement landscapes.
