Legal Counsel

About the Role

A London-based Legal Counsel to support AIG's UK Commercial Legal team within GLCR. The role provides day-to-day legal and regulatory guidance to the UK business, including AIG UK and Talbot, focusing on product, transactions and regulatory compliance, and helps manage external counsel. What You'll Do

• Provide comprehensive and proactive legal advice to the UK business on matters including product-related legal matters, non-claims disputes, agency, and distribution

• Advise on transactional legal issues, including negotiating, drafting and reviewing a wide range of agreements, such as Delegated Underwriting Agreements, Terms of Business Agreements, Broker Engagements, Facilities and Claims Handling Agreements

• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and coordinate with the GLCR COEs on regulatory, compliance, governance, employment, litigation, reinsurance, product underwriting and data/digital issues in the UK

• Develop and review precedent documents, know-how, templates and guidance and provide training to the business

• Monitor and keep the business informed of relevant legal and regulatory developments

• Assist with efforts to enhance and streamline the delivery of legal services to the UK business

• Manage external law firms to ensure high-quality, cost-effective legal services, adherence to panel guidelines, and strategic alignment with business goals What We're Looking For

• A qualified solicitor with experience working at a law firm or global (re)insurer

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on collaboration and ability to work independently as needed Compensation & Benefits
