About the Role Taft Stettinius & Hollister is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Business and Finance Practice Groups in the Cincinnati office. The role provides essential administrative support to attorneys, assists with document management, closing transactions, billing, and information governance. This position requires strong attention to detail and excellent communication to help deliver exceptional client service.
What You'll Do
- Provide skilled, proactive administrative support to assigned attorneys and other team members in the Business and Finance Practice Groups.
- Edit and proofread complex documents, including proactive review for discrepancies/inconsistencies.
- Review, inventory and save signature pages.
- Compile documents for closing using transaction checklist.
- Work with attorneys/paralegals to obtain documents for completion of closing books, and assemble closing books for attorney review.
- Clearly and professionally communicate with attorneys and other members of the legal team on projects, needs, transaction status, etc.
- Work with members of the legal team and accounting to gather costs and time in preparation for closing.
- Actively support the billing process, including initial review and comment on BIMs, editing BIMs, obtaining, preparing and/or updating reports, preparing cover letters and/or emails, and following-up on client and attorney inquiries.
- Independently perform administrative duties such as proofreading, editing and releasing attorney time entries; registering, calendaring and reporting Continuing Legal Education credits; requesting and following up on reimbursements and other related tasks.
- Prepare and review letters and memoranda according to Firm standards.

- Proactively monitor and communicates deadlines to the legal team as appropriate.
- Create, maintain, and retire files in accordance with Taft’s Information Governance Policy.
- Assist in managing client contacts, emails, print documents and incoming and outgoing mail.
- May enter time into billing management software.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years Legal Assistant experience strongly preferred.
- Must demonstrate proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules.
- Demonstrates strong working knowledge of, and experience in, using Microsoft Office programs; must have a desire to maintain excellent technical skills and to learn new software by taking advantage of internal training programs.
- Exhibits outstanding client service orientation in all verbal and written communication.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with a sense of urgency.
