Job title: Legal Advisor / Legal Counsel
About the Role Canonical is expanding our in-house legal team and is looking for an exceptional lawyer as Legal Advisor or Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will be a rigorous and effective practitioner with a track record of academic achievement and social engagement, and will work on compliance and privacy matters in the technology and enterprise software realm, as well as cutting-edge questions of technology, law and product development.
What You'll Do
- Provide legal guidance on compliance, privacy and data protection issues for Canonical's technology and enterprise software products.
- Advise on product development from a legal and regulatory perspective, including documentation, terms, privacy notices and risk assessment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, privacy and security to shape policy and governance.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts, terms of service, privacy policies, data processing agreements, and related disclosures.
- Stay current on evolving technology law, data protection regulations and industry standards; provide practical, business-friendly advice.
