Job title: Legal Administrator

About the Role ICON plc is seeking an experienced Legal Administrator to join our team to manage the contract lifecycle in Research, from negotiation to execution. The role will involve handling contracts such as Sponsored Research Agreements, Collaboration Agreements and Material Transfer Agreements, collaborating with Legal, Compliance and business partners to ensure efficient processing and governance. A proactive, solution-oriented approach and the ability to develop and use contract playbooks are highly valued.

What You'll Do

  • Independently manage the contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing complex contracts.
  • Support the legal team with drafting and editing legal language, gathering information, and preparing documents for internal and external use; negotiate with third-party vendors and academic medical institutions using guidance from Legal, Compliance, Privacy and Trade Compliance teams; apply legal playbooks to negotiations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Business Operations, Legal and Research to ensure contracts align with organizational objectives and timelines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management processes, systems and templates to enhance efficiency.
  • Proactively develop playbooks and processes in collaboration with Legal and Compliance teams and other subject matter experts.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: J.D. required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract negotiations, management end-to-end, or as a paralegal, preferably in a corporate or law firm environment.
  • Expertise in Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM): strong experience initiating to executing contracts.
  • Legal Knowledge: proficient in drafting and reviewing complex research-related contracts in drug development.
  • Paralegal Capabilities: strong background in working with Legal and Compliance, with detailed document preparation and support for legal teams.
  • Attention to Detail: exceptional accuracy in implementing fallback positions and interpreting nuanced contracting concepts.
  • Collaboration Skills: strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with internal teams and external partners.
  • Problem-Solving: ability to address complex issues with proactive, solution-oriented guidance.
  • Technical Proficiency: familiarity with contract management software (CLM systems), document management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Sponsored Research Agreements, Collaboration Agreements and Material Transfer Agreements.
  • Experience in drug development contracts and with academic medical institutions.
  • Familiarity with legal playbooks and contract management templates.
