Position Summary

The Department of Health Sciences in the School of Education and Health Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer position in Health Science, beginning in Fall 2027.

This is a 9.5-month, full-time faculty appointment with a 24-credit annual teaching load. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Health Science curriculum. Teaching assignments will be based on departmental needs as well as the candidate’s qualifications and interests and may include courses such as:

• Introduction to Health Sciences
• Community Health
• Epidemiology in the Health Sciences
• Evidence-Based Practice in Health Sciences
• Research Methods in the Health Sciences
• Cultural Competency and Health Literacy
• Health Systems and Informatics
• Leadership in Healthcare

In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member within the Health Science program. Responsibilities include advising and mentoring undergraduate students, recruiting and engaging prospective students, participating in departmental and institutional service, collaborating with faculty on program initiatives, and supporting the continued growth and success of the Health Science program. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, and collaborative engagement within an academic community.

Qualifications

• A doctoral or terminal degree in Health Science or a closely related discipline is preferred; however, ABD candidates and applicants with a master’s degree in Health Science or a related field and demonstrated success teaching at the college level are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching, effective student mentoring, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
• Salary Range: The budgeted salary range for this position is: $55,000 – $60,000.

• The budgeted salary range for this position is $55,000 – $60,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
