Responsibilities of the Lean Manufacturing Engineer

• Create detailed work instructions and visual aids to maintain acceptable production productivity and quality standards
• Estimate production setup and run times, material costs, and perform time studies to provide cost analysis
• Propose, sponsor, and lead projects that will improve manufacturing performance, reduce costs, improve yields, or reduce cycle time using Lean tools
• Set up cell manufacturing to minimize setup time and to facilitate increased assembly reaction time to meet customer needs
• Assist in designing testing methods to determine process capabilities, standards, and validate process requirements
• Participate in value stream mapping exercises
• Work with plant safety and engineering groups to ensure all concepts meet plant safety requirements
• Assist in selection, setup, start-up, and programming of production machines and equipment; may design jigs or fixtures
• Support continuous improvement and shop cleanliness utilizing 5S

Qualifications of the Lean Manufacturing Engineer

• BS Degree in Engineering preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Highly motivated self-starter who is able to meet expectations with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills and ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks/projects
• Attention to detail, results oriented, and customer focused
• Excellent communication, listening, interpretation, and reasoning skills required
• Must have demonstrated experience with Continuous Improvement Tools
