About the Role Lead Veterinary Assistant at Animal Medical Center San Rafael is a hands-on, patient-focused role supporting veterinarians, clients, and a collaborative team. You’ll help ensure high-quality medical care, smooth clinic operations, and a friendly, informative experience for pet owners. What You'll Do
- Assist veterinarians during exams and procedures, monitor anesthesia, and provide surgical support.
- Perform basic exam procedures, venipuncture, radiology, and routine laboratory work (IDEXX in-house lab).
- Obtain accurate medical histories and maintain clear client communication and medical records.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and support the team to deliver compassionate care.
- Collaborate with doctors and staff to maintain an efficient, positive clinic environment. What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of clinical experience as a veterinary assistant or receptionist.
- Knowledge of industry tools and equipment; skilled in venipuncture and basic exam procedures.
- Proficient in digital radiology and monitoring anesthesia with surgical assistance preferred.
- Laboratory skills (microscope, ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory experience preferred.
- Excellent client communication and organizational skills; able to obtain thorough medical histories.
- Adaptable team player who works well with doctors and staff and loves pets. Nice to Have
- Comfort with monitoring general anesthesia and surgical assistance (preferred).
- IDEXX in-house laboratory experience (if not already listed). Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $22.00-$28.00 per hour; Additional $250 sign-on bonus.
