This role reports to the Advanced Power Systems directorate within Honeywell Aerospace Advanced and Applied Technology. As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will work closely with a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to lead the development of high-performance power electronics and control systems, advanced turbine engine power systems, hybrid turbogenerator power systems, and advanced alternative power systems such as fuel cell and hybrid battery systems.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting advanced turbine engine power systems, hybrid turbogenerator power systems, and power electronics control systems from requirements and architecture definition to component and system design and analysis, assembly and validation in relevant system test environments. The ideal candidate is results-oriented and resourceful, has analytical capability to lead model-based system engineering (MBSE) and predictive health monitoring (PHM) initiatives, has a pragmatic and hands-on approach to problem solving and risk management, has excellent written, verbal communications and team development skills, and has the confidence to drive and direct rapid-prototyping development programs.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical and electrical system architecture definition, performance analysis and simulation, and development for range of Advanced Power Systems including gas turbine, hybrid electric turbogenerator power systems
- Lead interface and requirements definition for power electronics control system development and testing for Advanced Power Systems including gas turbine power systems, hybrid electric turbogenerator systems, and alternative power systems such as fuel cell and battery systems.
- Interface with customers and to lead the model-based system engineering (MBSE) approaches and predictive health monitoring (PHM) initiatives and develop digital engineering maturity
- Drive engineering team’s technical decisions, providing expertise and direction in the development of cutting-edge power technology solutions.
- Lead program adherence to technology development processes and phase gates
- Ensure the application of robust systems engineering principles throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work with project engineers and program managers to define project scope, manage technical risk, and ensure project execution to meet deliverables within approved schedule and budget.
- Maintain effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and leadership to ensure project goals are understood and met.
- Facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to enhance project delivery and innovation.
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE
-
B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering
-
7+ years of experience designing and developing gas turbine engines, hybrid turbogenerator power systems, and electric power systems including power generation, conversion, distribution and control design, analysis and testing experience including project management,

Modeling and simulation experience by using modern methods
-
Strong knowledge of integration and testing for complex electric power systems integration and testing

Must be a US person (US citizen or US permanent resident) due to US export control laws and regulations

Experience applying Systems Engineering principles in the development of complex systems, including stakeholder analysis, requirements definition, system architecture and concept generation, trade-space exploration and concept selection, design definition and optimization, system integration and interface management, system safety, verification and validation, and commissioning and operations.

Experience defining the model-based system engineering (MBSE) approaches, developing maturity, and leading digital engineering transformation initiatives
