About the Role
Tinder is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead all aspects of software development and product engineering for large-scale, consumer-facing web applications. You will design, implement, and maintain responsive, accessible web experiences using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and React.js, with a focus on scale, performance, and safety. You will mentor engineers and partner with cross-functional teams to shape the product roadmap.
What You'll Do

Lead all aspects of software development and product engineering, overseeing deployment and maintenance to ensure high availability.

Design, implement, and maintain responsive and accessible web apps using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React.js.

Write clean, maintainable code with documentation and follow coding standards; develop and execute test cases to ensure reliability and accessibility standards.

Collaborate with product management, UX/UI, QA, analytics, and business stakeholders to align technical roadmaps with goals.

Investigate and resolve user/QA issues promptly; conduct regular code reviews to enforce quality.

Evaluate and integrate emerging web technologies to optimize performance and scalability.

Mentor junior engineers; provide technical mentorship and architectural leadership across multiple teams.

Manage ongoing maintenance; handle technical debt through refactoring and process improvements.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or equivalent; or Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience.

3 years of professional experience designing, developing, and implementing highly interactive, accessible, and performant web applications serving high-volume, global audiences using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and React.js.

3 years of professional experience collaborating cross-functionally with product management, UX/UI design, quality assurance, analytics, and business stakeholders to align technical roadmaps with broader organizational goals.

3 years of professional experience modeling and advocating best practices in security, privacy, and accessibility standards throughout the full software development lifecycle within large-scale consumer technology environments.

3 years of professional experience proactively managing technical debt through strategic refactoring, process improvements, and system optimizations aimed at enhancing stability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

2 years of professional experience providing technical mentorship and architectural leadership to multiple engineering teams, including mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and establishing and enforcing best practices.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $189,592 - $230,000 per year (USD). Partial telecommuting permitted; on-site in New York, NY office when not remote.
