About the Role We are building a new Real-Time Team in Bangkok to deliver low-latency, high-throughput, real-time market data processing and distribution within LSEG's Elektron ecosystem. This is a long-term, multi-year initiative to establish a system-level programming and Linux community in Bangkok, collaborating with US teams to shape a performant, scalable engineering culture. What You'll Do
- Design and implement software modules in C++, including build system scripting, unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, along with software packaging and configuration management.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
- Contribute to product and internal documentation, technical specifications, software documentation, and unit test plans.
- Assist in resolution of field problems as needed.
- Partner with QA to ensure high-quality software and with project owners/collaborators to deliver, support, and maintain products.
- Mentor junior-to-mid level engineers as the team grows. What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of professional software development.
- Awareness of performance implications of libraries, including the C++ STL, to decide between 3rd-party libraries or in-house implementations.
- Experience developing in C++ in a multi-threaded environment.
- Strong Linux back-end development experience; comfortable with Linux command line and tools.
- Experience with Makefile and CMake build systems.
- Knowledge of real-time, performance-focused development in C++ (multi-threaded business apps, embedded/IoT, game development, or network/trading applications for low-latency or high-throughput).
- Good understanding of OS concepts (memory management, caching).
- Hands-on network programming (sockets, TCP/IP, UDP, multicast) using platform APIs.
- Strong English writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work partially in US hours. Nice to Have
- Experience developing on Windows.
- Experience with Rust, Go, C#, Python, or other system languages.
- Experience with legacy code bases (C++98) and modernization to C++11+.
- Experience using Linux POSIX APIs (multi-threading, file systems, I/O multiplexing, signals).
