Lead Platform Engineer

Role overview

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Lead Platform Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Argentina. Our client is a healthcare technology company operating in a regulated environment. The successful candidate will take technical ownership of cloud infrastructure and shared platform services, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership. The role focuses on AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, workflow orchestration, production reliability, observability, and the continuous improvement of platform engineering practices.

This position is ideal for an experienced Platform, DevOps, Infrastructure, or SRE Engineer who is comfortable leading technical decisions while remaining actively involved in implementation, troubleshooting, and production support.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, cloud infrastructure, or related roles.

• 3+ years of experience as a Technical Lead, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Platform Lead, or Engineering Manager.

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS production environments.

• Deep knowledge of AWS networking, IAM, DNS, load balancing, compute, storage, and managed databases.

• Strong experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.

• Experience operating production infrastructure and shared platform services.

• Practical experience with workflow orchestration, preferably Apache Airflow.

• Strong understanding of monitoring, alerting, incident response, postmortems, runbooks, SLOs, and operational readiness.

• Ability to review infrastructure architecture, deployment patterns, automation, platform code, and production-readiness decisions.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, financial services, or another regulated technology environment.

• Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, PHI/PII, data privacy, and compliance-aware engineering practices.

• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Tableau, data pipelines, or analytics platforms.

• Experience improving GitOps, CI/CD, deployment processes, and secrets management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, operation, and improvement of cloud infrastructure and shared platform services.

• Build and support AWS infrastructure across networking, IAM, compute, storage, databases, DNS, and load balancing.

• Operate and improve Kubernetes and Amazon EKS environments.

• Support workflow orchestration platforms, including Apache Airflow.

• Improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, SLOs, runbooks, and production readiness.

• Review infrastructure architecture, deployment patterns, automation, and platform code.

• Identify reliability, scalability, security, and operational risks.

• Improve CI/CD, GitOps, environment promotion, and deployment practices.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, data, security, and business stakeholders.

• Mentor engineers and contribute to platform engineering and SRE standards.
