About the Role Lead Network Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Congressional Budget Office project’s Cisco enterprise infrastructure. The role focuses on designing and modernizing secure network architectures, guiding Zero Trust initiatives, and mentoring engineers in highly secure government environments. What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize Cisco enterprise networking environments across Core, Distribution, Access, and Edge infrastructure.
- Lead architecture decisions and modernization initiatives, including Zero Trust implementation.
- Design network security aligned with NIST SP 800-53 and NIST SP 800-207 (Zero Trust).
- Implement network segmentation, micro-segmentation, identity-aware access controls, and least privilege architecture.
- Lead Cisco ISE / 802.1X / NAC implementations; review and optimize firewall policies and perimeter security.
- Integrate enterprise networking with SIEM and Network Detection & Response (NDR) platforms.
- Lead vulnerability remediation planning and device lifecycle management; coordinate firmware management.
- Support cybersecurity assessments, audits, compliance reviews, and incident response.
- Develop architecture diagrams, implementation plans, security impact analyses, validation procedures, rollback plans, SOPs, and audit evidence packages.
- Serve as senior technical advisor to CBO stakeholders and mentor junior engineers. What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of enterprise network engineering experience; 5+ years supporting Cisco enterprise environments in a senior engineer role.
- Expertise in segmentation, perimeter security, NAC, SIEM/NDR integration, vulnerability management, and government/regulatory environments.
- Technical tools: Cisco ISE, 802.1X, SIEM, NDR.
- Strong leadership, collaboration with government stakeholders, and ability to design/execute Zero Trust architectures per NIST guidelines. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $140,000 - $195,000 annually (yearly).
- Location: Washington, DC area; onsite work.
