Job title: Lead Mechanical Engineer
About the Role As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the sustainment and continuous improvement of complex aerospace mechanical products. You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Programmes to ensure products meet demanding performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements throughout their lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to influence technical direction and balance quality, cost, and delivery within a highly regulated environment.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert mechanical engineering support to internal and external stakeholders throughout the entire product lifecycle, ensuring continued product conformity through technical reviews and adherence to engineering documentation.
- Assess and approve alternative materials and components to address obsolescence and supply chain challenges, while leading engineering changes through formal ECN processes.
- Drive redesign and continuous product improvement initiatives, balancing technical performance, quality, cost and delivery requirements.
- Lead root cause investigations, implement effective corrective actions, and produce high-quality engineering reports, technical documentation and design justifications.
- As the mechanical engineering subject matter expert, support design reviews, contribute to key technical decisions, and work alongside cross-functional teams to develop effective obsolescence strategies.
- Mentor and develop graduate and junior engineers, helping to build technical capability and engineering excellence across the team.

- Enthusiasm for solving complex engineering challenges and contributing to engineering excellence in aerospace/mechanical domains.
Optional / Nice to Have
- Experience with obsolescence strategies and ECN processes.
- Track record of driving redesigns and product improvements in regulated industries.
