About the Role Lead Mainframe Architect responsible for architecting, designing, and directing the modernization and optimization of MetLife's mainframe systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and alignment with evolving business goals. This leadership role also drives automation for mainframe resilience and business continuity planning (BCP) to enable resilient, high-performing infrastructure. What You'll Do
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of mainframe solutions that support MetLife's business goals and technology strategy.
- Provide technical leadership to mainframe development, operations, and modernization teams.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, application developers, and infrastructure teams to identify requirements and deliver innovative, cost-effective mainframe solutions.
- Help establish new mainframe intake and change processes, including performance tuning of z/OS, zLinux, WLM, and PR/SM.
- Assist in BCP design exercises using Ansible and CSM, metro mirror, global mirror safeguarded copies, intra-data-center hyper swaps and fail-and-stay data center site swaps.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive continuous improvement and modernization of mainframe platforms.
- Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and architectural governance for mainframe environments.
- Develop and maintain architectural documentation, roadmaps, and blueprints for mainframe systems.
- Ensure high availability, security, and performance of mainframe applications and infrastructure. What We're Looking For
- Extensive expertise in mainframe technologies (e.g., z/OS, zLinux, WLM, PR/SM) with a strategic vision for IT transformation.
- Proven history of successfully leading complex, enterprise-wide mainframe modernization projects.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills with business stakeholders, developers, and operations.
- Experience with BCP design and disaster recovery planning; familiarity with Ansible and CSM is a plus.
- Ability to establish governance, architecture documentation, roadmaps, and blueprints for mainframe environments.
- Passion for continuous improvement, modernization, and driving high-availability, secure mainframe solutions.
