Your Impact The primary purpose of this role is to provide consultation and technical advice on technology infrastructure planning and engineering for complex or high impact infrastructure systems. This role is also responsible for working with enterprise architecture teams to develop the technical direction for infrastructure solutions within various computing environments and systems. This role leads multiple, complex and cross-functional projects simultaneously, often providing direction and oversight of more junior level engineers, and collaborates with cross-functional partners and senior leadership. This role is the subject matter expert for multiple platforms within an infrastructure engineering domain.
What You Will Do
- Translate requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable designs for complex or high impact infrastructure systems.
- Lead collaborative efforts with architects and engineers to ensure functional specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable system designs.
- Work closely with enterprise architects to develop and validate system design prototypes that guide architecture design.
- Lead the review and validation of technical specifications and documentation.
- Oversee the development and modification of complex infrastructure solutions within designated computing environments.
- Develop and validate complex system design prototypes, ensuring system designs adhere to company architecture standards.
- Review and/or lead the building of complex hardware and/or software configurations and prepare system components for installation to the infrastructure.
- Provide insight and direction to others creating infrastructure tests to identify system errors and ensure solutions meet functional specifications.
- Lead effort to deliver the validation and testing of components of highly complex infrastructure systems.
- Serve as a technical expert for project teams throughout the implementation and maintenance of assigned enterprise infrastructure systems; define and oversee the documentation of detailed standards for the introduction and maintenance of services.
- Provide insight and recommendations to inform the ongoing strategy for health and care of assigned domain(s) and/or platform(s) by identifying and maintaining technology and business-level service attributes for associated technologies.
- Evaluate new service options, identify issues and impacts, and make recommendations on feasibility, cost, and ROI.
- Estimate resource requirements for technical design and testing efforts, develop system support plans, schedules, and assignments, and manage complex project components and schedules while mitigating project risks as appropriate.
- Mentor and advise others, sharing an in-depth understanding of company and industry methodologies, policies, standards, and controls.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
- 7 years of experience in an IT support environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development
- 4 years of infrastructure engineering experience working across multiple domains, platforms, or specialty areas
- 4 years of experience leading projects with or without direct reports
Preferred Skills/Education
- Master’s degree in computer science, CIS, or related field
- Experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior management
- Experience working in a large matrixed organization
- Experience working with third-party IT vendors and/or systems solution providers
- Experience writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment
- IT experience in the retail industry
