About this opportunity

Ericsson is looking for an experienced engineering professional with strong expertise in Optical Transport Networks, Fiber Optic Infrastructure, and Data Center Physical Layer Infrastructure. This US-based role encompasses technical leadership, solution design, rack integration, structured cabling, deployment support, and customer engagement for large-scale data center and network infrastructure projects. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, applying your knowledge of physical infrastructure, complex fiber cabling systems, and optical transport networks to help customers build, deploy, and operate reliable, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure solutions.

What you will do:

• Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Optical Transport Networks, Fiber Optic Infrastructure, and Data Center Physical Layer Infrastructure across US customer projects.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the full project lifecycle — solution design, engineering reviews, deployment planning, integration, testing, commissioning, and operational support.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal stakeholders, defining infrastructure deployment methodologies, migration plans, and operational best practices.
• Develop engineering standards, deployment procedures, methods of procedure (MOPs), testing plans, and technical documentation.
• Support implementation and testing of complex fiber optic infrastructure, including high-density fiber cabling, MPO/MTP architectures, and structured cabling solutions.
• Support rack-level integration, infrastructure migrations, network upgrades, and data center expansion programs while minimizing operational risk.
• Review customer requirements, bills of materials (BOMs), rack elevations, and cabling designs to ensure solutions are technically sound and executable.
• Provide mentorship and training to internal teams, field engineers, and deployment partners.

The skills you bring:

• Strong knowledge of Data Center Physical Layer Infrastructure design, deployment, and operations.
• Experience with rack integration, hardware installation standards, structured cabling, and data center infrastructure best practices.
• Expertise in Optical Transport Networks including DWDM, ROADM, and Data Center Interconnect (DCI) architectures.
• Hands-on knowledge of MPO/MTP architectures, fiber trunks, patch panels, ODFs/FDFs, and high-density fiber optic cabling systems.
• Proficiency in fiber testing methodologies including OTDR, insertion loss, continuity, and polarity validation.
• Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure deployments, technology refreshes, and migration programs in Points of Presence (POPs) and data centers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical workshops, design reviews, and customer-facing engineering discussions.
• Strong consultative, problem-solving, collaboration, and technical documentation skills.
