A Snapshot of Your Day
We are looking for a Lead Contract and Claim Manager to establish and lead this critical capability within our Project Management Finance organization. You will establish and lead a team of Contract and Claim Managers supporting our portfolio of complex high-voltage substation and infrastructure projects. Together with Commercial Project Management (Finance), Project Management (Technical), Procurement, Engineering, Site Management, and Legal, your team will help prevent commercial exposure, protect contractual entitlement, and drive claims and changes toward successful resolution. Beyond leading the team, you will personally support our most complex commercial situations and work closely with execution and tendering disciplines, as well as Legal, to strengthen commercial execution across our project portfolio.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead and develop the Contract and Claim Management team, setting priorities across the project portfolio, and drive the early identification and management of contractual obligations, risks, opportunities, and entitlements.
- Strengthen subcontracting strategies through early flow-down, clear scopes, risk allocation, measurable performance, and effective change mechanisms. Guide subcontract administration, including contract setup, quantity and progress verification, claims, and final settlements.
Partner with Site Management and Engineering to strengthen quantity, progress, and performance management. Lead significant customer changes, claims, and commercial recoveries from identification through resolution.
- Guide the evaluation and defense of claims asserted against the business by customers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Support complex quantum and delay analyses, including the assessment of cost and schedule impacts, and ensure commercially defensible positions.
- Lead critical customer and subcontractor negotiations through resolution, working closely with execution and tendering disciplines and Legal to address complex commercial situations and protect contractual entitlement.
- Build consistent contract, change, claim, and entitlement management practices across our project organization to strengthen commercial execution and support successful resolution of claims and changes.
What You Bring
- Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related field; relevant professional qualifications are a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in commercial, contract, claim, or cost management within construction, EPC, or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading professionals or specialist teams in complex project environments.
- Strong experience with construction and engineering contracts and subcontracts, including contractual entitlement, notices, risk allocation, variations, and change provisions.
- Hands-on understanding of quantity verification, progress measurement, and valuation of changes in a construction project environment, with proven experience developing and resolving significant customer and subcontractor claims.
- Experience with quantum and delay analysis and assessing cost and schedule impacts, alongside a strong commercial understanding of project cost, forecast, risks, and opportunities in line with IFRS 15 accounting standards. Excellent commercial judgment, negotiation, leadership, and communication skills in challenging commercial situations.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
