URGENT HIRING – LEAD ACCOUNTANT
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers State
Salary: ₦250,000 – ₦350,000 Monthly (Slightly Negotiable)
Employment Type: Full-time
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Accountant to oversee financial operations, ensure accurate reporting and regulatory compliance, lead the accounting team, and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Supervise general ledger activities, reconciliations, and transaction accuracy.
- Manage loan accounting, including disbursements, repayments, interest, and portfolio tracking.
- Conduct financial audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.
- Prepare statutory and regulatory reports, including VAT, SCUML, and other requirements.
- Monitor and reconcile income, customer repayments, and accounts.
- Investigate account discrepancies and exceptions.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Track portfolio performance and identify financial risks and opportunities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial/activity reports.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior accounting staff.
- Liaise with auditors, regulators, and relevant stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent certification is an added advantage.
- 4–6 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in financial services.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in loan accounting and portfolio management is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
