Law Enforcement Response Specialist I

The Law Enforcement Response Specialist is Turo’s primary point of contact for processing inbound law enforcement requests, including subpoenas, search warrants, court orders, and general inquiries. This role ensures lawful, timely, and well documented cooperation with law enforcement while protecting user privacy and platform integrity.

What you will do

• Triage, verify, and process inbound law enforcement requests, including search warrants, grand jury subpoenas, administrative subpoenas, and general inquiries, in accordance with the LER Triage Matrix and established SLA commitments.
• Execute data production and disclosure within the Disclosure Authorization Matrix, including business records certifications, Certificates of No Record, and sworn declarations under penalty of perjury.
• Document case activity, chain of custody, disclosures, and case closures in Resolver.
• Verify requestor identity through badge number, government email domain, or agency callback before any disclosure.
• Route non-LER matters, including civil subpoenas, lien holds, claims, and airport violations, to the appropriate team.
• Identify and escalate NDO situations, grand jury secrecy clauses, and content data requests requiring Legal review.
• Apply appropriate Dunlop and Sift account actions, including holds, bans, and case notes, at case closure in accordance with the NDO protocol.
• Provide same day notification to the CIU Senior Manager for all federal agency subpoenas and refer intelligence patterns indicating organized fraud or criminal activity to CIU.
• Maintain daily account monitoring and law enforcement communication for orders requiring an account to remain active, including 10 day expiry notifications.

Your profile

• 2+ years of related experience in Operations, Trust & Safety, Law Enforcement, or a similar environment.
• Working knowledge of legal process types, including search warrants, grand jury and administrative subpoenas, court orders, and NDOs, as well as the distinction between content and non-content data.
• Ability to accurately document case actions and clearly communicate disclosure decisions under legal and time pressure.
• Excellent written communication skills for law enforcement correspondence, business records certifications, and sworn declarations.
• Ability to adapt to and work across tools including Resolver, Dunlop, Sift, Kustomer, Google Workspace, SQL, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent requests while meeting strict SLAs.
• Commitment to high responsiveness, accuracy, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
• Demonstrates Turo’s operating principles through work product and day to day team interactions.

Bonus if you have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with legal orders, including subpoenas, search warrants, and court orders.
• Experience processing law enforcement requests or working directly with law enforcement agencies.

For this role, the target base salary range in Phoenix is $50,000 - $60,000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
