About the Role

Clark County Jail Services is seeking experienced Lateral Corrections Officers with an existing certification for an expedited path into serving the county. In this role you will be responsible for the around-the-clock operation of the jail on a 12-hour, 4-on/4-off schedule, covering day, swing, and grave shifts, including weekends and holidays.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain safety and security of jail facilities and inmate welfare.
  • Patrol housing units, monitor inmate behavior, enforce policies, and respond to emergencies.
  • Complete incident reports and documentation; operate security systems and related computer software.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, medical staff, and jail leadership; participate in training and potential career growth opportunities in specialized units or leadership roles.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 21 years old; United States citizenship or lawfully permanent resident; high school diploma or GED; valid driver's license at time of appointment.
  • Two to three years of corrections experience in a comparable county, municipal, or state agency.
  • Current or recent certification as a Corrections Officer; basic corrections academy completed in Washington or another state; equivalency process required to gain WA certification; ability to complete CJTC Equivalency Academy within six months of hire.
  • No felony convictions; no recent or excessive drug use history; no active Internal Affairs investigations; not listed on a Brady/Giglio list; able to pass background checks and a qualifying physical ability test.
  • Solid writing skills, strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of incarceration procedures, inmate housing laws, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $37.78 to $46.98 per hour.
