What You Will Be Responsible For

We are looking for a Landscaping & Irrigation Lead to perform and oversee landscape and irrigation installations, repairs, and warranty work across our residential construction projects in the South Bay.

This is a hands-on working lead position for someone who enjoys building outdoor spaces, solving problems in the field, and guiding small crews of temporary workers to deliver high-quality results.

Your primary focus will be installing, maintaining, and repairing residential landscaping and irrigation systems, including addressing warranty-related issues. Your secondary focus will be supporting Quality and Warranty tasks and other construction activities as needed, such as fencing, retaining walls, and hardscape.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your daily work, lead by example, and contribute to building high-quality homes while maintaining a safe, collaborative, and productive work environment.

What You'll Do

  • Landscaping & Irrigation Installation and Repairs

  • Perform daily hands-on landscape and irrigation installation on new building sites, coordinating timing with the Assistant Superintendent of Warranty and the Site Superintendent.

  • Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including drip and spray lines, valves, backflow devices, controllers, and connections to the home's water supply.

  • Prepare soil and grade beds for drainage, then install plants, trees, sod, mulch, and decorative rock per landscape plans.

  • Diagnose and resolve warranty-related issues such as leaks, poor coverage, controller faults, drainage problems, and plant loss, ensuring work meets quality standards and project specifications.

  • Program and adjust irrigation controllers for efficient water use, in line with local water-efficiency requirements.

  • Crew Leadership & Field Coordination

  • Lead and work alongside small crews of temporary construction workers, assigning daily tasks, demonstrating proper techniques, and ensuring safe, productive, high-quality work.

  • Coordinate daily work priorities with field supervisors and other construction teams to support project schedules.

  • Promote safe work practices and ensure team members follow established safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Communicate project progress, material and plant needs, and potential challenges to field management.

  • General Construction & Site Support

  • Assist with fence and gate installation, retaining walls, and basic hardscape such as pavers, edging, and walkways.

  • Mix, pour, and finish concrete for small construction applications.

  • Assist with site preparation, digging, trenching, grading, cleanup, and other general construction activities.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing residential landscaping and irrigation systems, OR 2+ years of general home construction experience with the ability to complete work independently.

  • Working knowledge of irrigation components, including drip and spray systems, valves, controllers, and PVC and poly piping.

  • Experience using construction hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and effectively.

  • Ability to read basic landscape and irrigation plans, take accurate measurements, and deliver quality workmanship.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and workplace safety.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members while managing assigned tasks independently.

  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between multiple residential construction sites throughout the South Bay during the workday.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of drought-tolerant and native plants suited to the Bay Area climate.

  • Familiarity with California water-efficiency requirements (e.g., MWELO) and smart irrigation controllers.

  • Irrigation certification (e.g., Irrigation Association or QWEL) a plus.

  • Experience leading, coordinating, or guiding construction workers, including temporary labor crews, a plus.

  • Experience with fencing, retaining walls, hardscape, or concrete work.

  • Familiarity with residential new construction and post-construction warranty repairs.

  • Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding construction work, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, digging, trenching, and working on uneven surfaces.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently, with heavier materials handled using team assistance or appropriate lifting equipment.

  • Ability to safely handle and move soil, rock, plants, irrigation supplies, lumber, concrete, and other construction materials.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and at active residential construction sites.

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to join an outstanding start-up team and grow a purpose-driven company from the ground up.

  • Competitive salary package.

  • Medical/dental/vision benefits.

  • Equity in the company.
