About the Role
The Lactation Specialist and Childbirth Educator provides lactation support for mother-infant pairs and leads childbirth education programs. The role combines direct lactation care with scheduling and teaching childbirth classes, and may require working at alternate sites to grow the service.
What You'll Do
- Assess patients’ lactation needs using age-appropriate data; develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Educate mothers on correct breastfeeding techniques, troubleshooting latch issues, maintaining milk supply, and tips for first feeds.
- Schedule and teach childbirth education classes; assist the Director in growing the childbirth education service.
- Collaborate with Nursing Director, Clinical Supervisor or Nurse Manager to coordinate care; may work at alternate sites.
