About the Role
The University of Utah is seeking Laboratory Technicians to perform technical procedures in a research laboratory under minimal supervision, applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles. You will record observations, report results, and assist with maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Responsibilities may also include receiving and inspecting materials and stocking supplies. What You'll Do

Confer with senior laboratory personnel regarding procedures and techniques, and recommend modifications as needed.

Perform tests and procedures using laboratory equipment.

Monitor and assist with purchasing of laboratory supplies and materials.

Conduct literature reviews to obtain abstracts and information for research.

Make statistical calculations, analyze data and prepare results reports.

May supervise care of research animals; perform minor animal surgery or collect animal tissues and specimens for laboratory analysis.

May oversee the operations of student course experiments in a laboratory setting. What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other scientific discipline or equivalent experience; knowledge of complex laboratory techniques, equipment terminology, materials and substances.

Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment; ability to create and analyze statistical calculations and prepare reports.

Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.

OSHA training and certification in animal care and use or willingness to complete certification; some departments may require this. Nice to Have

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline (or equivalent), and experience with statistical analysis and reporting.

Experience supervising students in laboratory settings; familiarity with animal care and use protocols. Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $19.00 per hour.
