MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Collect, receive, label, prepare, and preserve laboratory samples.
• Conduct routine chemical, physical, and analytical tests in accordance with approved procedures.
• Perform testing of crude oil, refined products, water, chemicals, drilling fluids, and other oil & gas samples as applicable.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Prepare reagents, solutions, standards, and test samples.
• Record test results accurately and maintain laboratory records.
• Perform equipment checks, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
• Ensure samples are handled, stored, and disposed of in accordance with laboratory and HSE requirements.
• Support quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Identify abnormal or out-of-specification test results and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and good housekeeping.
• Follow applicable HSE, laboratory, quality, and environmental procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform laboratory tests according to approved methods and specifications.

• Use laboratory equipment such as pH meters, analytical balances, spectrometers, chromatographs, viscometers, centrifuges, and other relevant instruments, depending on the laboratory.

• Conduct routine quality checks and verify test results.

• Maintain accurate sample tracking and chain-of-custody documentation where required.

• Assist with investigation of abnormal laboratory results.

• Ensure chemicals and hazardous substances are properly handled and stored.

• Participate in laboratory audits and inspections.

• Maintain laboratory consumables, reagents, and equipment inventories.

• Report equipment faults, spills, unsafe conditions, and other incidents promptly.

• Support laboratory supervisors, chemists, engineers, and other technical personnel.

• QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• OND, HND, or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Laboratory Technology, Chemical Science, or a related discipline.

• Relevant experience in a laboratory, oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, environmental, or industrial testing environment.

• Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and analytical techniques.

• Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments.

• Good understanding of quality control, sample handling, chemical safety, and laboratory HSE requirements.

• Good documentation, reporting, and record-keeping skills.

• Ability to work accurately and follow established testing procedures.

• Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory requirements is an advantage.
