About the Role
Bachoco USA is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the evening shift with weekend work. This role performs daily lab duties and assists senior lab staff with routine analyses in a production environment to support product quality and process control. This position may involve on-site work at production facilities and field sample collection.
What You'll Do
- Perform bacteriological media preparation.
- Clean, maintain, and organize glassware, plasticware, and monitor instrumentation.
- Proper collection and preparation of samples for physical, microbiology, and/or chemistry analyses.
- Perform bench top microbiology and/or chemistry analyses with proper supervision.
- Perform sample collection at production facilities.
- Follow directions from senior management.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A college degree in a science field is preferred; some college with science or a high school diploma with 1-3 years of appropriate laboratory/processing facility experience. Understanding of food safety in a processing environment is a plus.
- Ability to read and write English; ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Computer literacy and the ability to present information clearly.
- Able to read, write, and perform basic mathematical operations; color vision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Good listening skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow procedures.
Nice to Have
- Understanding of food safety in processing environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay rate: $16.50 per hour with a $1/hour weekly attendance incentive.
- Pay increases at 30- and 90-days.
- 30-Day job shadowing and mentorship program.
- 6 paid holidays. Vacation after 90 days. 2 personal days/year after 90 days.
