Laboratory Supervisor

We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Laboratory Supervisor
Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Duities
- Perform nematode extraction using the specified methodology
- Identify different nematode species in samples for laboratory analysis and diagnostic testing
- Establish and maintain IITA mandate crops in the screen house and field for nematode activities
- Culture nematodes on carrots and plants
- Identify plant, root and tuber nematode symptoms
- Regulate nematode population, water, monitor, and maintain the screen house, micro plots and field plants to ensure optimal growth and health throughout the diagnosis period
- Handling of various microscopes for nematode identification
- Collecting, recording, organizing, cleaning, validating, and securely storing laboratory and field research data
- Analyzing data using statistical analysis
- Ensuring proper labelling, tracking, storage, cleanliness, safety, and organization of laboratory samples, workspaces, and equipment
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the unit manager/scientist.
Requirements
- BSc/HND in Agriculture, Biological Sciences, Plant Science, Crop Science, or a related field, with relevant practical experience in field and laboratory activities.
Competencies:
The ideal candidate must have:
- Ability to identify nematodes, handling of microscope, maintain laboratory equipment, and follow standard operating procedures.
- Experience in research, survey implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in agricultural or research-related projects and knowledge of data collection processes.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
