Laboratory Specialist
Location: Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi or Jigawa Reports To: State Program Manager with technical oversight from the Laboratory Advisor
Job Purpose
- Coordinate quality-assured diagnostic and laboratory services, specimen referral and laboratory systems strengthening in the assigned state.
Key Responsibilities

Support laboratory readiness, diagnostics, biosafety, equipment and quality-management systems.

Monitor sample collection, transport, testing, results return and utilization.

Review laboratory data and resolve performance, documentation and turnaround-time gaps.

Coach facility and government laboratory personnel and support assessments.

Coordinate proficiency testing, corrective action and referral-network improvements.

Maintain verification evidence for laboratory-related milestones.

Collaborate with clinical, supply-chain, SI and government teams.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field with current professional registration; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

Minimum 5 years of relevant laboratory program/diagnostic systems experience.

- Strong analytical, communication, coaching, stakeholder-engagement and problem-solving skills; ability to use routine data for action and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
