About the Role

Lead the operations of a single non-tertiary Hospital Laboratory and associated patient centers, overseeing technical performance, personnel, education, training, and administrative functions. Collaborate with the Director and Medical Director to align patient care, quality, and financial objectives; regular travel may be required. What You'll Do

  • Provide department management and staff oversight, including hiring processes, performance evaluations, career development, coaching, and disciplinary actions within policy guidelines.

  • Ensure staff competency and training; coordinate orientation and annual competency opportunities; manage competency-related duties including removal from duties if necessary (excluding transfusion medicine).

  • Lead financial responsibilities: prepare annual budget proposals, ensure supplies, manage staffing levels, justify variances, and submit capital/contract requests.

  • Drive Quality Assurance/Compliance: chair monthly QA meetings, implement quality improvement actions, maintain regulatory readiness, protect confidentiality, and ensure timely reporting of adverse events and corrective actions.

  • Manage workflow and efficiency: identify opportunities for new or improved services, optimize resource use, assess staffing needs, and initiate resource requests; coordinate with leadership on standards.

  • Engage with internal and external customers; participate in LAPG meetings, hospital leadership meetings; travel regularly as required.

  • Maintain and organize laboratory records and ensure traceability and retrievability within two hours. What We're Looking For

  • Proven leadership and management experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting; ability to supervise staff and coordinate cross-functional teams.

  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, staffing, QA/compliance, and regulatory standards; ability to implement corrective actions and maintain inspection readiness.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; ability to solicit staff input and provide feedback.

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly and participate in leadership activities with the Director and Medical Director.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and influence change. Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: salaried position (no range provided); pay type: yearly; currency USD.

  • Schedule includes on-call, occasional weekends, and other shifts as needed; location: Santa Fe Medical Center; travel required.
