About the Role Responsible for the overall direction and management of the operations (technical performance, personnel, education, training, and administrative functions) of a single non-tertiary Hospital Laboratory and associated patient centers/branch laboratories; coordinates activities with other areas of the organization and with internal and external customers to ensure that financial, regulatory, and quality standards are met. Works closely with the Director and Medical Director regarding decisions on matters relating to patient care, technical performance, quality and finances. Regular travel is required.

What You'll Do

• Provide department leadership and staff oversight for a hospital laboratory and related patient centers; ensure alignment with financial, regulatory, and quality standards.
• Oversee staffing processes including interviewing, selection, annual and six-month evaluations, and compensation in collaboration with Human Resources.
• Manage performance feedback, coaching, recognition, and timely disciplinary actions; conduct staff development and mentorship.
• Ensure accurate timekeeping, payroll close, and quarterly timekeeping audits; maintain effective communication with staff; conduct bi-monthly staff meetings.
• Lead QA/Compliance activities: chair monthly quality meetings, implement corrective actions, ensure regulatory readiness, and protect patient and staff confidentiality.
• Coordinate with the Director and Medical Director on testing decisions, interpretations, and patient care issues; ensure standardized orientation and competency for new staff; maintain annual competency opportunities.
• Manage financial responsibilities: assist in annual budget development, ensure appropriate supplies, justify variances, and process capital/contract requests.
• Identify workflow improvements to maximize efficiency and resource utilization; initiate resource requests as needed.

• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, conduct performance evaluations, and administer disciplinary actions in collaboration with HR.
• Strong financial acumen for budgeting, cost control, and resource planning; ability to justify staffing and capital decisions.
• Knowledge of QA, regulatory standards, and incident reporting; commitment to data integrity, confidentiality, and continuous process improvement.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work with multiple leaders (Director, Medical Director) and travel regularly.
