Job title: Laboratory Assistant (Night Shift)
About the Role Join ALS Minerals' European hub lab in Loughrea as a Night Shift Laboratory Assistant. You will follow safety rules, handle and track samples, operate equipment, and help maintain ISO 17025/INAB compliant quality records.
What You'll Do
- Follow safety rules and wear protective equipment.
- Report suspicious conditions or potential hazards to supervisor; suggest improvements.
- Perform assigned tasks by Lab Manager or supervisor; report completion.
- Follow written methods; oral instructions if necessary.
- Check and maintain order of samples; ensure identification; report deviations.
- Handle samples to preserve identification and prevent loss/contamination; report accidents.
- Monitor quality of work; note anomalies (reactive samples, boil overs, incomplete dissolution); report as necessary.
- Fill in forms and worksheets; sign/initial records.
- Operate equipment per instructions; check calibration status daily or before use; report anomalies; do not use out-of-order equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance per manuals.
- Keep equipment and workspace clean; tidy after finishing.
- Bring possible method/operation improvements to Lab Manager or Quality Manager.
- Complete all required records as per ISO 17025, INAB and QA system.
What We're Looking For
- Generally, none required as full training is provided; previous laboratory experience is desirable.
- Qualification & Training: Full or partial secondary education with the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Nice to Have
- Previous laboratory experience (desirable).
