Job title: Knowledge Lawyer, Pensions - EMEA

About the Role The Knowledge Lawyer, Pensions - EMEA will work with the Practice Group Leader and the Practice Group Business Manager to support the Pensions Sub‑Practice Group by providing Knowledge services aligned with the Group's strategic direction, vision, and values within a highly matrixed organization. The role-holder will manage and execute or coordinate legal content projects, training, and knowledge initiatives for the Group in alignment with the Firm’s knowledge strategy. The individual will operate as a Knowledge Management business professional for the Practice Group Leader and Business Manager, understanding the strategic needs of the Group’s lawyers, and coordinating with appropriate business professionals to deliver effective support.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and execute or coordinate legal content projects, training, and knowledge initiatives for the Pensions Sub‑Practice Group in alignment with the Firm’s knowledge strategy.
  • Act as a Knowledge Management business professional for the Practice Group Leader and Business Manager; understand the Group’s lawyers’ strategic needs and coordinate with the appropriate business professionals to deliver effective support.
  • Knowledge and Expertise: Precedents — draft or supervise associates, develop and automate the Group’s precedents and other legal content.
  • Current awareness and commercial/industry know-how: Use primary subscriptions, tools and relevant technology to stay up-to-date and provide regular updates on key developments; apply understanding of Key Clients' industries and businesses; collaborate with other Practice Groups to deliver holistic know-how.
  • Lawyer requests: Lead or coordinate training of lawyers on internal and subscription research tools; respond to ad hoc enquiries with timely, on-point answers; triage lawyer requests to Group topic leads; develop a reputation as a practice expert on core prioritized areas for central Knowledge Lawyer support.
  • Know-how development: Ensure effective collection and input of the Group's know-how into the Firm's global repository of knowledge including global, multi-jurisdictional databases and resources; identify gaps in knowhow and coordinate work to fill them, ensuring content development is progressive.
  • Training: Identify the Group's training needs; drive planning, delivery and promotion of training; leverage the Firm’s resources, technology and processes to produce or coordinate with team lawyers on training materials and courses efficiently and of high quality.
  • Client-facing knowledge: Supervise Associates to provide or help coordinate the legal input into client-facing initiatives, as well as client alerts, and where relevant assist or supervise associates with client training and legal content for proposals and other business development resources.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience as a Knowledge Management professional for a law firm; ability to align activities to the Group's strategy and to work with Practice Group Leader and Business Manager.
  • Proven ability to draft or supervise associates in development of precedents and other legal content, and to automate where appropriate.
  • Experience with current awareness and industry know-how using subscriptions and technology; ability to apply client industry knowledge and work with other practice groups to provide holistic know-how.
  • Ability to lead or coordinate training on internal and subscription research tools; respond to lawyer inquiries with timely answers; triage requests; develop as a subject-matter expert.
  • Strong know-how development and knowledge repository management; identify gaps and coordinate filling them across global databases.
  • Training planning and delivery capabilities; ability to produce high-quality training materials and courses.
  • Client-facing knowledge involvement: assist with client alerts, proposals, and business development content; supervise associates accordingly.
