Kitchen Operations Contractor
Location: Austin, Texas (Onsite)
Role Overview
This contractor will support the Product Development and Sensory Team by maintaining essential Test Kitchen operations. The individual will work closely with the Kitchen Manager and cross-functional partners in a collaborative environment. The position is open due to an increased workload and provides hands-on exposure to private-label and exclusive-brand product development.
Key Responsibilities

Receive, unpack, store, and document product samples in the internal database.

Photograph first-production samples and verify preparation instructions.

Cook, prepare, and present samples for the Product Development and Sensory teams.

Assist Product Developers with product cuttings and First Production Evaluations, including setup and breakdown.

Maintain the Test Kitchen’s cleanliness, organization, policies, and procedures.

Monitor and calibrate kitchen equipment, including scales, ovens, thermometers, and microwaves.

Track Test Kitchen supplies and assist with ordering replacements.

Support process improvements, project monitoring, technical documentation, and general administrative needs.

Required Qualifications
-
Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Quality Assurance, or a related field.

Experience: One to two years of experience in the consumer-packaged goods industry.

Skills
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Accurate typing and data-entry skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Product development or quality assurance experience.

Knowledge of food or manufacturing processes and laboratory techniques.

Strong culinary skills and a genuine interest in food.

Work Environment
-
Must follow production-kitchen dress standards, PPE requirements, and food-safety and sanitation procedures.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Regular bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, reaching, and lifting.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Comfortable working around ovens, smokers, coolers, freezers, approved cleaning chemicals, knives, and box cutters.

Comfortable with repetitive hand and arm movements, background noise, and varying temperatures.
