Kiosk mode Clinical Data Analyst - Pediatrics

About the Role

Under the direction of the Director of the MSCH NICU Data Committee, the NICU Clinical Data Abstractor works with a Clinical Data Navigator to abstract neonatal data from the Epic EMR for reporting, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research. The role builds a Vermont Oxford Network (VON)-compliant REDCap database, ensuring high data integrity and clinical accuracy, and collaborates across the NICU Data Committee and CUIMC Analytics Development Team. What You'll Do

• Perform deep-dive clinical data abstraction from the Epic EMR for neonatal patients, including interpretation of clinical notes, labs, imaging, and flowsheets using Smart Data Elements, SmartForms, and reporting tools.

• Collaborate with the Clinical Data Navigator to design workflows for data extraction from Epic to REDCap and assist in REDCap database design and field mapping to VON data dictionaries.

• Provide clinical context to technical team members to ensure data queries capture correct patient populations and events; identify and implement improvements to data capture tools.

• Conduct data quality checks, clean and validate abstracted data, and ensure submission-level accuracy for VON reporting and internal quality initiatives; maintain HIPAA compliance.

• Manage multiple tasks, maintain awareness of policies (HIPAA, IRB, data governance) and pursue continuous improvement and training. What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; minimum 3 years related experience.

• Preferred: RN, NNP, or equivalent clinical degree with three years of NICU Level III/IV experience.

• Experience with Vermont Oxford Network database, data definitions, and reporting.

• Experience building, managing, or entering data into REDCap databases.

• Background or certification in Nursing Informatics or Clinical Informatics, or advanced data science applications in healthcare.

• Excellent decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with administrative and/or operational data and reporting.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-up; effective communication.

• Experience with scripting languages for data analysis.

• High-level proficiency navigating the Epic EMR; familiarity with Epic Smart Data Elements, SmartPhrases, and clinical flowsheets. Nice to Have

• Experience with advanced tools for capturing data from unstructured elements and workflows.

• Certifications or additional training in Nursing Informatics or Clinical Informatics.

• Familiarity with data governance processes and IRB-related data handling. Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $90,000 – $105,000 per year.
