Job Summary
- We are looking for an experienced Kiln Refractory Maintenance Supervisor to supervise the maintenance, inspection, repair and replacement of refractory materials in the kiln and other high-temperature equipment.
- The position will be responsible for ensuring refractory reliability and performance, contributing to the reduction of unplanned downtime and optimizing refractory service life while ensuring compliance with safety, quality and operational performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the monitoring of the condition and wear of refractories and implement preventive and proactive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate activities related to furnace shutdowns for the inspection, repair, and replacement of refractories.
- Analyze furnace operating data to evaluate the performance of refractories and optimize their service life.
- Identify refractory-related failures and issues and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions with the maintenance and production teams.
- Oversee the work of contractors specializing in refractory installation and ensure the quality of the work, compliance with technical standards, and cost control.
- Use appropriate diagnostic tools, including thermal imaging, to monitor the condition of refractories.
- Contribute to improving furnace efficiency, reducing energy consumption, and optimizing the service life of refractories.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and conduct risk assessments related to work on refractories.
- Ensure the traceability of inspections, materials used, and work performed.
- Mentor, supervise, and develop refractory technicians and furnace maintenance personnel.
- Identify the team’s training needs and contribute to skills development.
- Work closely with the Production, Maintenance, and Procurement teams to achieve operational goals.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement the necessary corrective and preventive actions.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in a technical discipline.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience.
- Practical experience of eight (8) years in the supervisiing, monitoring, installation, maintenance or management of refractory materials, particularly in industrial kilns.
- Good knowledge of kiln operations, equipment and the industrial environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
- Good leadership, supervisory and team management skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Good knowledge of applicable QHSE requirements and practices in an industrial environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and good knowledge of SAP.
- Fluency in French is an advantage.
